On May 31, 1992, I photographed the annual Filipino Santacruzan pageant in Forest Gate, Newham, East London. Founded in 1981 by Andy Andres after his arrival from the Philippines, it was the first event of its kind in the UK.

Originally intended as a place for dealers, collectors, and art connoisseurs to meet, this exhibition-based event started in London in 2003 has grown into an international phenomenon and In 2014 opened Frieze New York and in 2019 Frieze Los Angeles.
